Business Meeting Minutes
July 19, 2017
Called to order by President Willy Fink at 6:36 pm.
Those present: Dave Johnson, Karin Hamburg, Deb Brown, Jerry Brown, Dee Robbins, Kevin Parker, Jennie Fink, Willy Fink, Anke Maass, Denny Reichenbacher, Jan Haugen, Todd Haugen, Christine Martinez, Marilyn Pulford, Craig Pulford, Kathleen Nesseler, Cheryl Boling Tara Boling, Lisa Crandall, Duane Crandall, Maria Steinbrecher, Patrice Wilson, Brian Wilson, TJ Griffiths, Steve VanLerberghe, Kathy Koester, Mike Koester, Anne Hoeper, Mike Hoeper, Melissa Aikman, John Bethard, Tammy Visconi, Mickie Masterson, Laurie McCune.
Motion to accept consent agenda by Dave Johnson, seconded by Denny Reichenbacher.
Payments for approval was $1135.94 Party on the Pier (Lindsay Park Yacht club paying for ½ entertainment cost and hotel room donated) Jerry Brown approved with second by Anke Maass.
Uncontested board positions up for renewal in 2017 are Dee Robbins for Communications Director and Karin Hamburg for Secretary. Brian Wilson will continue uncontested as Social Director. Laurie McCune and Tara Boling running for President of the club. Admin members whom qualified to vote for President where handed ballots to vote anonymously. After Vice President Jerry Brown and Secretary Jennie Fink counted the votes Tara Boling is now club President after a vote of 15 to 17. Willy thanked the club for his 4 years of Presidency and is looking forward to continuing as a member with the club.
Golf Outing proceeds was $3581.04, Dave Johnson indicated that it was a lot of fun and the thanks the group of people that helped on the committee. Golf course would love to have us back. The patio area for after party was great along with the food that was served. Cheryl Boling motioned to give the charity $3600 and TJ Griffiths seconded it, after more thought and discussion TJ receded her vote and Brian Wilson made a motion to give the charity $4000 with TJ Griffiths seconding. All Admin was in favor. Cheryl will call the charity and arrange for them to be at the August social so we could present the large check.
Some discussion on who has access/rights to our different systems and who should take over those roles. It was suggested that Dee Robbins, Tara Boling and Jerry Brown have those accesses and they can decide as a new board if anyone else needs access to FB page, Yahoo Group and Website.
Jan Haugen talked about the clubhouse and improvements she would like to make. The room we store items in can get damp and has been damp and suggested club should invest money for shelving and totes to organize, store and protect our items. She asked for $700 with $500 up front to purchase these items. Storage area is free and not our building to make changes and fixes to. Denny Reichenbacher who has helped with props and items at storage facility motioned club give Jan $1000 to get what is needed to protect our items and Lisa Crandall seconded motion. $500 check given to Jan after meeting to get started. Thank you Jan for taking this needed project on. She has asked for assistance from anyone available on Friday at 10:00 am and Saturday at 10:00 am to help at the clubhouse.
Charity committee chose Hand in Hand for 2017 HDD. It was also a requested that the runner up which was Boys and Girls Club which should be the remainder of JDC parking money from previous years $1574 and additional to give them $2500 that was requested on their application. The presenter for Boys and Girls Club was the daughter of Zimmerman Honda whom gives us free storage for our props and supplies. John Bethard asked if we had the money available and Deb pointed out there is money in Merchandise account. Deb Brown motioned to give Boys and Girls Club $2500 and Brian Wilson seconded motion.
Cheryl will contact Mississippi Valley Trikes to come to July social to receive a check that was voted on in June Business Meeting. She will attempt to reach Boys and Girls Club to also attend July social to receive donation check of $2500.
Out of 335 members we have 98 that still need to renew. Tara is hoping that a lot of them will renew at the Membership drive in August.
July social is at Moline BierStube with Jordan Danielsen and Jef Spradley as the entertainment. Aug social will be at Cabanas. Sept social at LeClaire BierStube and possibly a social at Caddy’s.
It was suggested by Christine Martinez to pass around some of the Thank You’s we receive at club socials so members can see where they money is going to.
